Professional bloggers need gadgets to track their blogs’ success and to keep their readers coming back for more. The best gadgets are ones that are fun, entertaining and informative.

1. Blog Lists / Blogroll

Blog lists are a way to share blogs that professional bloggers like. Not only does this give readers relevant places to visit after visiting the blog, it also promotes a sense of community in blogging. Bloggers will often reciprocate links in blog lists, thus promoting each other and increasing readership for the entire community.

2. Subscribe Buttons

Subscribe buttons are a great way to track how many people want to keep coming back to the blog. They are also a good way to ensure that readers come back. Without a subscribe button, readers may enjoy the blog, but forget to visit it later. Subscriptions give readers a reminder to come back to the blog and updates whenever the blog has something new.

3. Automated Social Networking Updates

Part of professional blogging is promotion. Unfortunately, it can be time consuming and take away from blogging time. With automated updates, social network profiles will be updated every time there is a new blog post with zero work from the blogger. The only thing a blogger has to do is set up the updates once and reply to comments about the post on their social networks, should they arise.

4. Google Calendar

Niche-specific blogs may want to keep track of events in that niche or even blog events, such as contests and promotions. A Google Calendar can show readers when these events are happening and help the blogger keep track of his or her events. It has to be updated to be relevant, but is easy to use.

5. Twitter Badge

If a blogger’s twitter updates are relevant to his or her blog’s niche, a twitter badge can help link the two. The twitter badge will show recent tweets on the profile to which it is linked. However, unless the blog is personal in nature, it is odd to display a twitter page that has all personal tweets. Do follow us on @Snakebytez for all the latest updates on our blog.

6. Countdown Timer

Countdown timers can come in handy for all kinds of blogs. A movie related blog can post countdowns to upcoming movie releases. A music related blog can post countdowns to tours or record releases. A parenting blog can even post countdowns to popular toy releases or family holidays.

7. Polls

Several blogging sites have options to post polls. Even if a particular site does not, it is possible to create polls on other sites and post them to a blog. These polls can collect reader information, such as “What is your favorite television show?” to blog opinions, such as “What is your favorite topic to see on this blog?”

8. Reader Maps

These gadgets show where a blog’s readership is coming from. Many blog hosting sites will display this information on the admin panel. However, several awesome gadgets can be displayed directly on the blog’s page. Get a rotating globe with dots wherever there are readers or a simple list of where readers are located. These do not contain information about the readers. There is no way to track who is where with these gadgets, so they are safe for bloggers and their readers. There are countless cool gadgets out there for professional bloggers. Bloggers may be tempted to use too many of them. It is important to remember to use only enough gadgets to inform and entertain. Too many clogs up a blog and may even slow down the page loading time for a blog. Therefore, try to mix flash gadgets with simple text gadgets and keep them all to a tolerable minimum. Bloggers can always switch it up so they can use all of their favorite gadgets at different times.

Spending his time researching printer ink has allowed James to become an expert with HP ink cartridges and all other printing accessories.

8 Awesome Gadgets for Professional Bloggers is a post from: Snakebytez

How to Instantly Drive More Traffic to Your Site – Use Google Images!

BLOGGING

Google images

Traffic Building

traffic generation

Wordpress

A look at an often over-looked method for generating targeted traffic to a website.
How to Instantly Drive More Traffic to Your Site – Use Google Images! is a post from: Snakebytez

If you have a website, chances are that you have invested heavily into getting it up and running, not just financially, but also time in research and development. But, now that you have it, you want it to get noticed.

There are several avenues that website owners have taken to promote their hard work. Some of them are quite time consuming, while others are costly, with varying success rates.

When you have something that people are looking for whether that be a product, or information, then you need to let them know you have it. Search engines can be utilized to generate new traffic by employing keywords and phrases dispersed throughout your articles and website content.

You can also use photo images. I am not talking about simply grabbing attention in an article by adding images that will attract those who are browsing. Photos, like pages, can also be ranked in the "photo" search engines, such as Google Images.

You can hire someone to take them. Or, the photos can be those you have taken yourself, and published “as is”, or you could do a a little cropping or resizing or even hire a professional photo retoucher to bring them to the next level.

Read on to learn more.

What is Google Images?

Google Images is another chapter of Google, working to allow its users to search the internet for image content.

Just as keywords work in searches for content, the user types in the image they are seeking into Google Image.

Users are directed to images based on the filename, as well as a link text and text adjacent of the available images. When an image is clicked on a small snapshot, or thumbnail, is placed over the owner of that image’s website.

Ben Ling, Director of Search Products at Google, announced in 2010 that they have experienced over 10 billion views of the images used in this service. That’s impressive.

When I first discovered this service I typed in ‘lighthouses’. I was surprised by both the quality of the photos, and the ease of how it directs you to quality websites. Whatever image you type in, it will lead you to websites. At 10 billion hits, one of these websites should be yours.

Take the Extra Steps to Assure Ranking

The photos you add to your website will all be taken in by Google’s spiders, and include them in the Google Images database. However, you need to make the effort to gain success through this service, which is often neglected by website owners.

In order to get your images ranked, you will have to take your photos to the next level with these steps:

File name. Typically your images will automatically be tagged by your camera with a random file name, such as DSC44668.jpg, or IMG_56684. If your website is a tree trimming site, and you have a photo of a tree, it will not be found if you don’t change the file name to something relevant, such as ‘tree’, or ‘tree_trimming’.

Alt tags. Use a descriptive alt tag on each of your images. Alt tags are what search engine spiders pick up, not the actual photo. Just as with the file name, make it relevant.

Description. If you choose to use a content management system, such as WordPress, to add your photos to your site, make sure you take the time to add relevant and descriptive text to each image. This might take a little time, but I have found that the payoff is worth it.

The Benefit of Multiple Photos

Photos on a website are beneficial for two reasons. The first is precisely what I’ve been sharing above, to draw in more traffic.

However, the second benefit of adding photos to your website is that it adds a great deal of character and visual to your print. People are often stimulated by visual aids.

I suggest that you add as many images as your site will allow. There is very little expense in generating digital images, with the exception of a decent camera. If your site will allow it, add 100 photos, or even up to 1000. Remember, each one could lead traffic directly back to you.

Coming up with that many ideas might take time and effort. But, get creative. Before and after shots are always a great visual, or photos of your products. Using guides such as photo retouching tutorials for Photoshop will help in knowing how to create some great work.

Adding that many photos will take time, no doubt. However, it’s a wise investment.

Never too Busy

Everyone is busy these days, I know. If you don’t have the extra time yourself, recruit others to help you.

Perhaps you have an assistant that can take the photos, or create the descriptions. Your spouse might enjoy helping with this as well.

If you don’t have someone readily available to help, consider outsourcing the work. The local high school might have an eager student in their photography class who might want a project for school.

I have utilized freelance workers for helping with projects, when I need extra help. A company like Elance is a great way to hire temporary help.

The point is, this is one time that ‘busy’ should not be an excuse.

In Summary

Generating traffic for your website is the only way it will be successful, and sitting around and simply hoping it happens is not going to work.

I have been working on the Internet for years, and this is one area that I firmly believe should not be neglected by those who want to succeed. Hopefully I have generated enough interest that you will give it a try.

How to Instantly Drive More Traffic to Your Site – Use Google Images! is a post from: Snakebytez

Google Web Hosting- Is It a Good Choice for You?

BLOGGING

free hosting

Google

hostgator

webhost

Finding a suitable answer to this question is definitely impossible without knowing for sure what Google web hosting offers its users. First of all, it is important to know that Google provides free web hosting, which can be easily found on the Google Sites. The tools that Google provides together with the free web hosting offer enable users to create great web pages without putting in too much effort. Therefore, this web hosting alternative is also suitable for beginners. Additionally, the information is going to be stored in your account so you can easily check it and change your website the way you want it, when you want it.

Google Web Hosting: The Most Essential Features That You Should Know

Prior to analyzing some other aspects that relate to Google web hosting, you should discover the most important features of this service. Thus, Google provides the followings:

The best Google technology and tools have been included into the free web hosting service. A very useful tool, especially for clubs and organizations, is the one that allows a webmaster to give access to different people in order to post information on the website.

Google provides different pre-made templates, which can be very helpful especially for new webmasters who do not posses the right skills for website creation.

The editor function relates to the type “what you see is what you get,” also known as WYSIWYG. This feature helps users to add pages and content the way they want it.

The page creation function allows you to create numerous pages. Furthermore, the edit function enables you to customize the pages the way you want.

What Google Web Hosting Can Actually Do For Your Business

The first important thing in Google website creation section is the fact that the configurations and plug-ins are very easy to use, allowing users to make different adjustments. Additionally, Google allows you to add more functionality on your website after creating it. Thus, with a little bit of knowledge and work, your website will look just like the creation of a professional.

A truly great advantage that Google web hosting provides is the fact that your website can benefit from more traffic than those websites, which are accommodated by other web hosting alternatives. And this is because Google itself imposes specific rules so that the websites that it hosts are the first ones to be promoted if they respect those requirements. Therefore, the main condition for enjoying heavy traffic is to respect Google’s requirements.

A Few Drawbacks

Although many people consider that Google web hosting is a great choice, there are a few disadvantages that you should know prior to choosing this alternative. All those who intend to develop a personal, basic web page should definitely choose Google web hosting. But, if you are searching for web hosting in order to develop a professional website, maybe you should consider getting some other alternatives.

The reason that lies behind this advice relates to the fact that Google provides limited tools and resources.

The space quota shows 100 megabytes storage space and 20 megabytes for attachments. These values are not suitable for a business website. For only a few dollars a month, you can enjoy the services of a web hosting company, which provides numerous tools and unlimited resources.

Additionally, Google does not allow users to select a specific domain name.

Moreover, Google can delete your website if something looks suspicious or the action represents a benefit to the host itself. In conclusion, the free Google web hosting might meet the demands of numerous individuals. However, it is essential to bear in mind that this alternative does not represent the best possible choice for a business website, which expects an increase in its activity.

This blog is hosted on HOSTGATOR, one of the best Web Hosting Company.

USE COUPON CODE : SPECIAL025 for 25% DISCOUNT

on all Windows and Linux hosting plans.

This is a guest article written by Sathish, an Online Marketer who works with Nethosting, a Dedicated Hosting company.

Google Web Hosting- Is It a Good Choice for You? is a post from: Snakebytez

How to Protect Your WordPress Blog From Spam

BLOGGING

prevention

spam

Wordpress

Protecting your blog from spam is a basic, essential task for any blog owner. Even if your blog is little-known and you only have a small handful of readers, spam bots will still be able to find it through Google. If you want to keep your comments section from being filled with unnecessary link generation and advertisements for adult enhancers, keep in mind the following tips and tricks.

Staying Updated

The first thing to keep in mind, and the simplest thing, is to make sure your WordPress blog is updated to the latest version. You only need to update to the latest stable version, not beta versions or that sort of thing. Keep in mind only to go through the official WordPress updates. This will ensure that the latest, most recent spam protection available through WordPress is on your blog. The WordPress team is always updating their spam filters to be better and catch more recent techniques at getting through the spam filters.

Akismet

WordPress comes with a built-in spam filter called Akismet. Akismet works great–most of the time. You should check Akismet regularly for legitimate comments that got marked as spam. There are several reasons why a legitimate comment may be marked as spam. Maybe your commenter has poor online grammar and spelling and writes in such a way that their vernacular is mistaken for spam. Often it will be the act of including a link in the comment that gets the comment unfairly flagged. Akismet will learn, however, if you mark legitimate comments that don’t pass the filter as legitimate. It may take two or three times, but the program will learn. It will also learn if you mark as spam comments that shouldn’t get through the filter but do anyway.

CAPTCHA and Approval

If you set your blog up so that all comments have to pass through a CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) test before commenting, that will stop a great deal of spambots in their tracks. You may have seen CAPTCHA when posting around the ‘Net. It’s that thing that asks you to type the characters you see in the image into a box to prove that you’re a human. Usually it works great. Sometimes bots come with the ability to try and read the CAPTCHA, but if it’s a good CAPTCHA that usually doesn’t help them get through.

GrowMap Anti-Spambot Plugin (G.A.S.P)

If you don’t want your visitors you enter CAPTCHA as it can be annoying for then this plugin will help them comment with joy. The plugin just blocks spam that Akismet lets through. You have been told and indoctrinated by SEO mongers for the past few years and like a loyal follower, you have believed this blindly. But have you ever thought, does keyword really lose all its importance in SERP? What if you try to get ranking in some keywords without incorporating that particular keyword neither in the body content nor in the meta data? This is simply not feasible. Keywords still hold their own importance and like any other search engines, Google still gives the same importance to keywords but the only difference is that they have changed the way they used to look into it. So, all you need to do is to reshuffle your SEO strategy. So do not throw away keywords from your SEO campaign, that will be your biggest marketing blunder.

What are keywords?

Keywords can be anything that people use to find information in any search engines. It can be anything from brand name, to people’s name, product, service or even your name. Yes, anything can be keywords but for sure you cannot choose a keyword that no one searches with except you. That will be sheer wastage of time and effort. If you are aiming high, high volume keywords will serve your purpose but you should also remember competition will be stiff in those keywords. So, choose your keywords judiciously.

Are they important?

Yes, this is the question that everyone jumps into with the obvious expectation of getting a negative answer. But the thing is that keywords still hold its importance even in the post panda scenario. However, the good old days have gone when you could easily escalate to the top of search query by adding excessive keywords in the Meta data and in the body content.
Now a different strategy needs to be adopted for the sake of surviving the rollercoaster of Google algo shuffle. Your content should be built around the keywords and not the other way around. The bottom-line is that you need to make it appear useful to the users and to the search engines. Now do not give unnecessary attention to search engines as this could invite penalty. Try to put into the shoes of a general user and ask yourself whether a user would like to go the next post or he would move to the next website.
Here are some tactics you should adopt to secure better ranking without compromising with users’ experience:

Do not target more than three main keywords in the body content.

Do Not stuff keywords in the meta data sections.

Do not need to stuff wild number of keyword variations in meta keyword sections

Use keywords naturally even in title and meta description section

How You can Choose Keywords

There are several tools available to make your keyword research a fairly easy affair but the thing is that you should not choose something that comes up with weird suggestions. Since you are targeting google, it makes sense to use Google keyword research tool for this purpose.
There are different options. First come word and phrase option. You need to add a keyword related to your blog here in this section. Since my blog is related to discount coupon, I type the keyword ‘discount coupon’ here. Next comes the website option. If you have a website enter that to get specific suggestion, however If you do not have any, no worries, just leave it blank. Then I choose category from the drop down list below:
Drill down to until you get the best category option, here I have chosen Network Security since my best two products are norton 360 code and acronis coupon. I have also added them in the keywords to get some specific suggestions as well.

Now there are other options too like Location, language and devices. You can change the location to India if you are targeting Indian visitors only and other options can be modified too.

Put the capcha and then hit enter. It will show you different keyword ideas along with specific data on their competition, Global monthly search volume and Local Monthly search volume. And there are options to sort them based on high to low or low to high:

Once it is done, you can narrow down further. By default, Gooogle Adwords keyword tool shows ‘Board’ keyword. You can get search volume based on exact search and search by phrase. Broad search will show you inflated search volume of a keyword as it includes search volume of all related keywords. For say, here the keyword – ‘online discount coupons’ keyword includes search volume of both the keywords – ‘online discount coupons’ and ‘online discount coupons’. Whereas search by phrase means, it will includes search volume of different keywords like – ‘online discount coupons’, ‘discount coupons online’, ‘‘discount online coupons’’ etc.
So, it makes sense to choose ‘exact match’, as it will give you exact number of people who are typing that particular search query.

What should be your Approach?

First choose your keywords. Select only three or four and then write article based on those keywords. But you should make sure that the keywords are highly relevant to the content and you are blending them naturally if you are to see your website gaining strengths in search engine rankings.

The Why and How of Keyword Research for SEO is a post from: Snakebytez

Linux and Windows Web Hosting – What Is the Difference

BLOGGING

Internet marketing

Linux

web hosting

If you are looking to choose a hosting service then the first choice that you will need to make is whether you will be choosing a Linux platform or a Windows platform. Before deciding which one is the right platform for you, it is recommended to find out their features and what exactly makes them appropriate for a web hosting solution.

You should know that many website owners are guided by the financial advantage that Linux comes with, since this one is way cheaper than Windows solution. Actually, the Linux option comes as a free option within which everyone can operate in accordance with their own needs.

But let us see what makes Windows be so expensive when compared to Linux:

First of all, Windows is a popular platform on which everybody can operate. This is the fact that has determined web hosting providers to charge more when using this platform with their servers. More than this, Windows has gained it own reputation as a trustable platform which many users depend on. Not the same thing can be said about Linux of which not many people know; therefore they prefer stay away of a platform with which they are not familiarized. In this way, Linux has become hard to sell at any price that puts it closer to what Windows can be sold for.

Another thing that makes Linux cheaper is the reliability and stability that this one can be operable. On the other hand, Windows web server always needs maintenance to allow web hosting providers to rely better on this platform. As a result this maintenance will be supported by experienced technical teams who charge fees for their service. This payment is reflected at the end customers’ fees, hence the larger fee paid by website owners when subscribing to web hosting services.

Another reason that makes Windows a highly paid solution is because this one is a Microsoft based application. Since many computer-operated businesses rely on this type of application, it goes without saying that the demand for the server reaches also for Microsoft-based application. As you can imagine, at this chapter Linux platform loses a lot of points, also because the web hosting companies have taken note of the demand offering as such the Windows operational platform instead of Linux. They know that under these circumstances, the number of their customers increases.

Due to the fact that Windows is extensively used by web developers and internet surfers, it makes it very desired by all the web owners and web hosting providers. One will find even the newbie in this area utilizing the Windows solutions because they are designed with user-friendly features and easy to navigate guidance.

Everybody knows that Microsoft has been the ultimate driver to successfully support the way Windows solutions are competitively leading in this industry. This is why they sell themselves pretty high to the end consumers.

This blog hosted on HOSTGATOR, one of the best Web Hosting Company.

USE COUPON CODE : SPECIAL025 for 25% DISCOUNT

on all Windows and Linux hosting plans.

Besides sharing his view on blogging, Elijah is a contributor to Top Canadian Credit Cards where you can get Secured credit cards

Linux and Windows Web Hosting – What Is the Difference is a post from: Snakebytez

Best WordPress Security Plugins

BLOGGING

blog

Wordpress

These days you might have seen hundreds of websites/blogs getting hacked and defaced by Black Hat hackers. They do it because their customers spend enough time online to realize that their favorite websites are always changing and improving, to stay fresh all the time. Not all websites need a redesign every year, and chances are yours doesn’t either. But no matter what you site is about, what you’re trying to sell or spread word about, it must be up-to-date.

Now it’s simpler and cheaper than ever to improve your website, because there are plenty tools and experts out there ready to help you. And remember that giving your website a facelift is much more than merely improving the visuals.

Condense your website

It’s better to have 10 pages that are optimized than 50 that are not. Though web designers don’t agree always on what’s best for a website, they all do tend to advocate for smaller, optimized websites. So reducing the number of pages should be a priority. And don’t worry about losing content: you can always create downloadable documents from your spare pages, and publish them on your website.

Improve loading time

First take down the unnecessary graphics and other useless crap that pops up and which nobody clicks willingly, but by mistake. Then consider moving to a superior hosting plan. If you already use cloud hosting, the transition will be much easier.

Create an attractive newsletter

To make people sign up for your newsletter – and so keep them up to date with what you’re doing – you need to often them something valuable in return. Depending on your type of website this may be unique content, promotional codes, downloadables, etc.

Reward loyal users/customers

If users are to return to your website regularly, they need a good reason for doing it. It’s easy to feature a special section on your website accessible only to your loyal users or customers, where they can access videos, images, podcasts, or any other specials you can think of that they may enjoy.

Resize logos and graphics

Browse the web for a while, visiting popular websites, and you’ll notice that most logos and graphics are minimalistic. Big logos are no longer in fashion, because they seem to shout something. Small is better.

Allow users to do more things

If your website promotes a restaurant, then enable customers to book tables online. If you’re an online store, enable customers to pre-order items. Whatever website you have, you can give users more control. Do this and you’ll notice sales go up.

Change colors

To truly give your website a fresh look it may be necessary to change the color palette. Only a graphic designer may tell you what works best, but currently the trend seems to on colors that are cool without being garish.

Get a Content Management System (CMS)

Static HTML has become somewhat outdated. A CMS lets you carry out updates on your website on your own, without having to rely on others to do it for you. This gives you more control and helps you save money in the long run, although a good CMS does require an initial investment worth up to a few thousand dollars.

Quote your customers

Not only adding quotes or testimonials lend you credibility, but it also makes your website seem more personal, which makes quite an impression on new visitors. It’s up to you how you get the quotes or testimonials, but it would be great if you could devote a whole section of your site to this.

Gather traffic metrics

There are plenty of software and web services that let you check how many visitors you get and from which search engines, which pages are most popular, and what usage patterns you visitors have (i.e. what they do after they land on your homepage). Knowing all these helps you plan any future developments to your website.

The post is written by Patrick Smith, a web developer and writer for Web Hosting Secret Revealed. We currently write and design our sites with the standard desktop web surfer in mind. But the majority of future web users are going to be searching for, accessing, and sharing primarily and even exclusively through their mobile device or even their prepaid phone. If you think this is some sort of futuristic projection expected to occur decades from now, think again – mobile web traffic is expected to increase 400% by the year 2015. These web users aren’t going to simply spring up: people are going to be leaving their desktops and laptops behind in favor of pocket-sized portals to the web. The question bloggers must ask themselves is this: will my blog fit?

The Mobile Browser

The increased sophistication of the Internet has led to many of us bloggers taking the time to create some particularly funky website layouts and alternatively styled navigation. Right off the bat, it should be mentioned that this stuff is usually bad news bears for SEO. But when it comes to optimizing your site for the mobile search and mobile access, pizzazz makes a bad situation a whole lot worse.

Mobile browsers have limits. They can typically only tolerate a web page that’s 10kb big. Anything more than that and you’ll clog the system. Chances are the impatient user will backup and attempt to consult another site in the time it takes for your massively-decked out website to load. That’s bad news for your blog SEO.

The Mobile Website

Unless you can simply use Google Reader to transfer your RSS feed into a mobile-friendly version you can link to on your traditional website, it’s a safe bet to instead simply design your blog with mobile use in mind. That means centering everything of importance, because most mobile browsers fail to capture sidebar details easily. It also means eliminating obnoxious mobile-traffic killers like Flash and automatic video play. Frankly, nobody wants to see this stuff anyway whether they’re browsing on a desktop, laptop, or smartphone.

Big images must also be discarded in favor of small graphics that fit better with the speeds associated with 3G and 4G. In their place, insert easy to find navigation tools, centered near the top, so that visitors on touchscreen phones can easily find their way back to the homepage. Ideally, every page of your blog should link to another one, in order to keep traffic there and not allow it to float away to somewhere else on the web.

Practice Before You Publish

Round up as many friends and family as it takes to have access to every possible mobile browser in existence, and examine your blog on each device to make sure it looks great and there aren’t any problems for visitors. The iPhone’s Safari is very different from Android’s web browser, so it’s vital that you do this before publishing content and missing out on that golden opportunity of rapid backlink creation.

Mobile web browsing is the future. It’s imperative that bloggers get caught up to speed on how they must create their sites for optimum amounts of traffic. If the overwhelming majority of your traffic comes from mobile users, then you have to become mobile friendly. There’s just no way around it.

Bloggers Must be Mobile-Minded is a post from: Snakebytez

Move your Blog from Blogger To WordPress without losing traffic

BLOGGING

blogger

blogspot

Featured

Wordpress

Congratulations on deciding to migrate your blog! Going from BlogSpot to a self hosted word press site can seem overwhelming, but take comfort in the fact that people like you do it every day.
HEADS UP: This is a simple walk through meant for the blogger with very little content on their Blogger blog. If you have years worth of content or just lots and lots of content I would strongly urge you to hire a professional to assist you in moving your blog. Moving the meat and potatoes of your site is the simple part, but making sure all of the links and all of your subscribers and your feeds don’t break? Well, that takes care that would be specific to each blog.
Before you begin the move you should do two important things on your BlogSpot blog:
1. Make sure you are using New Blogger

If you started a blog on blogger after 2006 you don’t need to worry about this, but if you are an “old school” blogger – you should double check that you have made the switch to the most updated interface of Blogger. The reason is that most importer tools simply won’t work with “old blogger”.
2. Back up your blog
Using the new interface of Blogger: select Settings from the left sidebar and then click “other“. The first item you will see on the new screen will be “Blog Tools Import – Export blog – Delete blog“.

You want to click on Export blog. A screen will pop up explaining a bit about exporting-click on “Download Blog” and it will save on your desktop.
After these first two steps, you can begin moving on with the remaining steps:
3. Purchase a domain. When it comes to a domain keep it simple.
4. Purchase a hosting plan.

There are many hosting companies out there (and it can sometimes be super easy to simply purchase your domain and hosting all at once). Some host companies will bill you for a year of service and others will bill you monthly – do a bit of research and find a plan that works in your budget.
5. Change your feed.

If you are using Feedburner (it’s pretty great) – simply log in and add your new feed (which will come from your new domain)
6. Install WordPress on your new site.

Most host plans have something called one-click install so look for that in your “cPanel” and you will thank me. Simple Scripts and Fantastico are two examples. For increased security come up with a great user name and password (hint: don’t use “admin”)
[If you have any issues with set up you should always be able to reach tech support of your host company - hopefully you have selected a host that has a readily available support number. Some companies don't.]
7. Log in to your wordpress account using your WP log in (this will be given to you after you do the install). It will look like yourblog.com/wp-admin.
8.

In the left sidebar look for Tools and click the arrow to reveal the options there. Now click on Import.
You will see that importing a blog from Blogger is listed on the list of blogs that are importable.

Click on the import from Blogger link.

(A pop up will come up inviting you to install the import tool- install it.) Follow the prompts for this install.
9. And this is the part where it can get yikes if you are importing a large amount of content – it’s possible that some of your links didn’t move over in a way that makes them, well, work. There are tools that can help you fix this.

On your WordPress sidebar look for Plugins and click the arrow to see the options there. Select “Add New”. Then do a search for “broken links” – there should be many options. Install one and activate it and follow the prompts to correct your links.
10. Spend some time making your new WordPress site your home!
11.

When you are ready to direct your readers to your new site log back into your Blogger site and goto

Settings > Basic > Add a custom domain. Enter your new domain here.
12. Next (still in Blogger site) we need to add a bit of code to your HTML. To do this, in your left sidebar select Template and then under the page with an image of your site on it select HTML. A pop up will ask you if you REALLY want to do this. Click Proceed.

ie: Template > Edit HTML > Proceed
Now you need to place this code after <head> Tag & Save Template:

<meta content=’0; url=http://YOURNEWURL.com/’ http-equiv=’refresh’ />

This will help redirect traffic from your old site to your new site.
13. Check your work: is your feed directing properly, the links on your new site, the redirect on your old site? Fix what isn’t working.
14. Let everyone know you are moving! Post one final post on your old site, send out a tweet, and a status on your facebook page. Let your readers know to update their URLS if they have you in a bloglist.
15. If anything goes haywire – call an expert stat.

If you are facing any problem migrating the blog feel free to contact me.
