Gmail will soon be launching a “Priority Inbox” feature to automatically identify and sort your important incoming messages from the rest.
Gmail will use variety of signals to prioritize your incoming messages, which includes the contacts who you frequently interact with by sending or receiving messages, messages you recently opened, contrary to the messages you deleted.![]()
The New Priority inbox will be divided in 3 categories: Important & Unread, Starred and Everything else. Instead of normal unread messages, Gmail will sort the very important ones which needs your attention and place them in the Important and Unread list. The messages which you had starred earlier will appear in the starred list followed by the rest unread and read messages.
The new feature is expected to roll out by the end of this week for all Gmail users.
The message Priority settings can be customized through the Settings > Priority Inbox Tab of Gmail.
